I know, I know school just got out. And we’re talking about Back to School already?! Yes we are.
During the 2021-2022 school year, CCO had an estimated 60 students enrolled in Chicago Public Schools. Now that they are returning to the classroom for in-person learning, our younger residents face numerous back-to-school needs. While CPS provides a box of school supplies for each child at CCO, this is only part of the solution. In one of our recent parent workshops, which focused on managing household budgets effectively, one of the parents shared an unexpected concern: they had been exploring betting sites in hopes of supplementing their income to afford the rising costs of school essentials. This sparked an important discussion on financial planning and community support. Beyond the basics like backpacks, lunchboxes, and uniforms, families often require guidance and additional resources to ensure their children are fully prepared for the academic year.
So, CCO has started a GoFundMe and an Amazon Wish List for the Back to School needs of our student residents. Please consider a financial donation and/or donating school supplies to give young CCO residents a better chance of success in school. Thank you.
