Accelerated Moving Success

It was “a day filled with hope, opportunity, and new beginnings for the women at Naomi House.”

Last week, Cornerstone clients participated in an Accelerated Moving Event (AME) organized by All Chicago. Naomi Women’s program head, Kecya Thurman, shares about the event below.

“Representatives from Sarah’s Circle and Volunteers of America Illinois (VOA Illinois) were onsite to meet individually with participants and begin building relationships with those who were matched for housing services. Throughout the day, women had the opportunity to discuss their housing needs, ask questions, and learn more about the support they will receive during their transition.

We are proud to share that 18 women were successfully matched to housing services during the event. Each participant was introduced to her new housing case manager, who will serve as a guide and advocate throughout the housing process. These case managers will work closely with each woman by assisting with locating appropriate housing, completing necessary paperwork, coordinating move-in logistics, connecting them with community resources, and providing ongoing support to help ensure a successful transition into permanent housing.

For many of the women, this event represented more than just a housing opportunity—it marked the beginning of a new chapter. The excitement, encouragement, and genuine care shown by everyone involved created an atmosphere of hope and possibility. Women left the event feeling supported, knowing they have a team walking alongside them every step of the way.

The success of this event reflects the power of collaboration between All Chicago, Sarah’s Circle, VOA Illinois, and Cornerstone’s Naomi program…. Together, we are creating lasting pathways to permanent housing and brighter futures for the women we serve.”
